I have worked with many outstanding young people who fall into this category. Many of these are more conscientious and are of moral character than some native young people who take their citizenship for granted. We need Dream Act qualifiers to stay here and share their goodness with America and the world.
i strongly support the DREAM ACT. and I really hope President Obama pass the plan as soon as possible in order to let the country allow any of us being able to go to college for achieving further educations and degrees. so many people like me have been living in the darkness, and we need to see some changes of a new immigration policy. please pass the act.
The gifts that the undocumented immigrants bring to the nation are overwhelmingly greater than the cost that is perceived. We cannot afford keeping a section of our population in the the shadows of ignorance. Education is the key for the success of our state and our nation.
Let the children live their dream. Nothing should stop them from getting a better education.
Please pass the DREAM Act. So many students and young people are living in the shadows, being denied inclusion into society and being punished for the actions of their parents.
DREAM 2010
PASS THE DREAM ACT WE ALL HAVE DREAMS FOR A BETTER FUTURE
i support the dream act because im in love with an immigrant with a dream of one day been able to go to school or to have there papers its not fare for anyone that has been here sense their child hood
we all have a d.r.e.a.m a dream to become and have a better future in this free country that is america land of the free we all have to put our word in everyone deserves an apportunity
This hard working students deserve a better future.
i agree with the dream act!
I am an AB540 college student. Its ready hard for me to go to college, but i am not giving up. I have to work full time so I can pay my rent, car insuranse, gasoline, food and personal stuff. Im taking 9 units per semester, and its hard. but once again I am NOT giving. My major is in Child Development I have been here with my brothers since I was 11, I am 20 years old now. My life is here.
The dream act should be unanimously supported. It is well written, fair, and provides an opportunity for the youth to not only become educated but earn a better life. They would become american citizens both on paper and in terms of education.
Please pass the dream act
PLEASE PASS THE DREAM ACT! I JUST GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL WITH HONORS AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF MY STATUS! I HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE I WAS 5 YEARS OLD, SO I'VE BEEN LIVING HERE FOR 13 YEARS AND NOW THAT I AM OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, I CAN'T GET MY DREAM CAREER OR GET ANY OF MY DREAMS ACCOMPLISHED! I SPEAK 3 LANGUAGES, A WHIZ AT WRITING AND READING AND I WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER OR A WRITER BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE STUPID PAPERS... SOME SAY THAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SHOULDN'T GET PAPERS BUT WHAT US YOUNG ADULTS WHO WERE TAKEN HERE BY KIDS HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT OUR PARENTS DECIDED TO DO? IT'S NOT FAIR! I AM 100% LIBERAL AND I BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR US EDUCATED PEOPLE TO GET WHAT WE DESERVE!
It is a shame that AMERICA will not give students the opportunity to prove their skills and ambitions because of their legal status. Many of these students have lived in the U.S. their entire life and have been living the American lifestyle. So why not give those who want a future, the chance to prove that they can too be someone in life one day? We all share this world and we should all be treated equally with no judgements and restrictions. The Dream Act should be passed!!!!!!
It's time to pass this needed bill in Congress and for it to be signed by the president. These young people should be allowed to finish their education and become citizens of our great country. These are law-abiding students doing the right thing. they want to make their way in our society and they have earned that right. The law needs to be passed as soon as possible. This is what our country was founded on. Freedom.
It is a shame that illegals crossing the border (can't call them immigrants) are treated with more respect than those whom have abided by all of our visa requirements for years and are prevented citizenship in this country. Martin and Alison Dennis have made significant contributions to this town of Steamboat Springs, the state of Colorado and this country of ours. Hopefully, the bipartisan effort to pass the Dream act will become a reality for this wonderful family.
pease pass the dream act we really need it so we can get some help with school and that we can some day become citizens and that way we be able to use our degress thank you and i hope the DREAM ACT pass
I would rather be a lawyer than a cartel worker
The dream Act must be passed to allow my grandson and others like him who came to the United States legally as infants and were brought up as loyal American citizens for a number of years to remain with their families in the United States and provide the dedication and skill required to build the great nation.
Students who have been here since they were children don't deserve to be deported back to their original country. If they have proved to be law abiding people and show that they have something to offer by graduating high school and wanting a higher education then they should be allowed to stay legally in the country which they are used to calling Home.
First of all, I am so grateful my grandparents decided to legally immigrate to this country at the turn of the 20th Century. I love America dearly. The vision of our forefathers had when creating this country has shaped a better world for all of humanity, which is why the USA is such a desirable country to live. The dream the Dennis’ have for living in America is nothing different than the dream my grandparents had over a century ago. However, the Dennis’ have proven before obtaining citizenship, to be valuable assets to this country. I must commend Martin and Alison for the standards they have set in our community, the way they have raised their children, and the ethical way they have conducted their business practices. I find it a true shame if DREAM Act was not passed and the United States of America would lose an opportunity to have their son, as well as other young adults in similar situations, become an American citizen.
The Dream Act should be passed. It is affecting young adults that have been raised in the United States and will not be allowed to continue their higher education if The Dream Act is not passed. Thank-you
It is ridiculous that the congress has not passed this bill yet. It is past time for them to act!
THE TIME HAS COME... LET US PROVE THAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF GIVING BACK TO THE COUNTRY THAT GAVE US EVERYTHING. WE CAN NOT ENJOY THE FREEDOM THAT YOU TAUGHT US!, WE NEED LEGAL DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO PROGRESS AND EXPAND AS HUMAN BEINGS! LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD! LET OUR HANDS DO THE JOBS YOUR CITIZENS REFUSE! BUT LET US DO IT THE LEGAL WAY! LET US LIVE WITHOUT THE "IRRUGULARITY" BANNER ACROSS OUR FOREHEADS!
The Dream Act should be passed all we are looking for is to have a better live than aour parents becuase we can see the consequences of not having an education. No one should be hold back from making their dream come true. Education should be a right for everyone not just certain people.
Please pass the dream Act law...we students want to keep studying and make a contribution to this country in which we have been here all our lives!
I think that deep soul-searching is in order here. We are a country of immigrants and a great many of us have successed in fulfilling the "American Dream". Here is our chance to tap-in to vital intelletual resources that are desperately needed in this country. If one looks back at history to check the national origins of many of our great contributors to our society, it would indeed be very difficult to find on that was not from immigrant parents or family. Many families have sacrificed much to get thier children educated in this country. It is a true privilege to accomplish this goal. If we do not act on thier behalf, we are the ones to suffer.
There is a need for change in our laws. Please do so and allow thousands of students to live a fair life.
Many children negatively impacted have spent their entire K through 12 lives here and are now pursuing Colledge degrees - paid for by thier parents and risk lost of credit for futures and time already well spent in higher education! Fine minds with high hope and strong contributions for America's future! Please don't let them slip through a useless crack - Steamboat Springs Colorado needs them, as does the greater communities of the State and country!
When you have a family that gives back to the community, contributes to much needed affordable housing, offers stable employment opportunities in this challenged economy and raises their two sons to be responsible members of the community one should be celebrating their achievments. Instead there is a distinct possibility that their oldest son will be deported prior to graduating from College. Because the Dennis family has followed all the rules they are facing this distinct possibility while elsewhere thousands of illegal imigrants continue to be a strain on our financial well being. These arcaic laws need to be revisited which is precisely what the Dream Act is addressing. I support the Dream Act and more importantly and selfishly don't want to see the Dennis family torn apart after being such model citizens.
I personally know of a family situation that this new proposed law would apply. It would make sense to have such a law and the law has its protections written into it to weed out those that should not be entitled. That assumes that we would be enforcing this law or any of our other immigration laws.
Please pass this act and stop families being split up.
We have friends who have lived in Steamboat for 20 years. They have two sons, a 19 year old who was 4 months old when he was taken to America, and a 17 year old. Without this act the eldest boy will have to return to England, without his family, when he is 21. Please do not allow this to happen.
A boy without a country, I work for a business owned by two English Nationals, they moved here almost 20 years ago and have been here on Visas that have been renewed every few years. Their son, came to America with his parents when he was only 4 months old. He has gone to schools here, and now is in college, when he turns 21 if the... laws don't change he will have to leave his home,( because for all except on a birth certificate he is an American ) and go to England. Immeigration, is not jut the face of our friends from the border, but the face of the kid next store. All people should look at where we came from, and relieze, that this country was built on more then one nationality, that a child should never be countryless, but should be allowed to stay in the home that they were raised in.See More
is time to for the law and their puppets to stop playing games and focus in the future not only of us that are suffering but for their country, there is no freedom there is no dream if our life is based on some documents stop the madness now pass one law help billions.
please push this act through - my nephew and his family are strongly depending on it - it would be an injustice to split the family unit after being in the country for 20 years and running a sucessful business. My nephw has worked hard at his studies and has adcheived the highest grades - america would be loosing a well educated student Thank you in anticipation.
I am the child of someone who immigrated to the US after WWII.
Friends of mine have been in Steamboat Springs legally now
for almost 20 years but have not been able to become citizens. Mark, their eldest, moved from England when he was 4 months old. He is now at his second year at CU Boulder but may have to cut his studies short and return to England when he turns 21 years old, (he is now 19 years old). This would be devastating to their family. Due to the Dream Act, this may not need be. Thank you.
Mark Nuccio
Help support the dream act!! Equal Education for ALL students!!!!
I do this for all of us who never stopped "HOPING" that one day the true ideals of this great nation will blossom to embrace DREAMERS, for they sustain the core of these ideals through admirable dedication, hard work, and perseverant spirits. Please support the DREAM ACT.
I am strongly in support of this act. PLEASE PLEASE let it go through. My grandson was taken to the USA when he was 4 months old. He has grown into a wonderful young man who has worked hard at his education and never, ever been in any kind of trouble. He is now 19 years of age and studying in Boulder university. If this act does not go through he will miss his last years of education and will probably have to return to a country he hardly knows. This will have a severe impact on his future life. Its about time the American government came to their senses and tried to keep such upstanding citizens.
Pass the Dream Act.
I am proud to admit that I'm an undocumented student at California State University-Bakersfield. It has become more and more difficult for me to pay for tuition very quarter. For this reason, I advised people to support this act. Our governor needs to understand that the state of California needs educated citizens.
cut the bullshit not the budget!!
I do this in support of the cause but also for my friend Jamie who risks losing a dear friend over this silliness. I say, we spend the money to educate them, they spend the years with us, why not spend their lives? It should be their choice, not some bill's.
DREAM Act is necessary. Please sing this bill Governor Arnold!
Please cast your vote for the DREAM. Let's encourage hardworking, honest people who want to become citizens to stay. My friends, the Dennis family, own a business here and have done their part to stimulate the economy and help their employees keep their jobs. They came here legally 20 years ago when their oldest son was a tiny infant. He has known no other life but what he has lived in America. They have tried to become citizens while they have been here. I'm not sure why that hasn't happened yet, when I know other who have been granted citizenship in a shorter amount of time. Their son, who is 19 and in his Sophomore year at college, under current laws will have to return to England and fulfill requirements for a student visa before he can return. This means he will need to leave America without graduating from college and go and live in a land he does not know for at least a year before he will be able to return on a student visa. His mother will have to go with him to help with the transition, leaving her husband and younger son in America. Tearing a family in half is, I am sure, the unintended consequence of a faulty law. Please don't let this happen. Keep this family together. Let their oldest son graduate from college, uninterrupted. Don't shatter their DREAM.
My little brother is so driven that he wants to work as a sports journalist and become an announcer and well college is going to be hard for him because our family has to pay for many other things and his college tuition if one of them but it will be easier if the dream act could get passed for he could get to live his dream of working on ESPN
So many incredibly smart, hard-working young people want to achieve great goals to go to college, have ambitious careers, and give back to their communities here in the United States. Sadly, as they get older and realize their undocumented status, they start to understand that the system is set up against them. They will not achieve that career or be able to help their local community because no matter how hard they work, unless the government decides to change their status, most will never be able to go to college, much less be a police officer, a marine, or a lawyer here.
I recently had a middle school student tell me that. He realized that he would not be able to have the job he so strongly believed he could get only two years ago when I had last seen him. He knew that his status would keep him from ever accomplishing his goal, and that he and his family would always be poor because of where he was born. He could not get a green card; his family had been trying for a long time. He himself had already given up on college since he could never pay for it himself and in the end it would amount to nothing. The degree wouldn't make up for his lack of a social security number.
This incredibly bright young person deserves better. He, like all young people, should have hope for the future and the opportunity to attain their goals. So this is why the DREAM Act must pass.
:) yes we can!
I want to do this because every student should get a education!!! like me and others have DREAMS
I want the Dream Act to come true It will many people
Please pass this Dream Act, as I feel it is urgent to help keep these good family community members together.
My husband was brought here at 3 years old. We have a lawyer and he says we have to go to Mexico! I have been praying everyday about the dream act. This will help our family and our economy.
I am 30 years old, and the dream act would finally complete me. The sorrow and depression of being undocumented can only be understood by people that are going through the same, and to a certain extent by their documented family members. We still have to eat, we still have to pay rent and even taxes. I have to feed my children and make a living somehow. I want to be an equal participant of this society. I'm not asking for a handout or for pity, but instead for fairness and acceptance.
Our founding fathers would have found it incomprehensible that anyone would oppose this legislation. To consider that someone would put their life on the line as a member of the military without a path to citizenship absolutely shows no gratitude for the sacrifice they are willing to put forth. Opposition to the Dream Act goes against the grain of the "give me your poor, your hungry, thirsting to be free" sentiment that once offered a path forward for hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Europe and other foreign countries. The story hasn't changed from the early 1900's. But now, the immigrants are from other places, but with the same thirst. Most of the young people who this bill applies to did not come here of their own volition, they came with their parents. They have lived along side of us, as part of us, and have been collectively raised by us as our children. They are, in effect, ours, and we have no other honor bound responsibility but to embrace them as our own, and march to the future as a family. My distant ancestors came here as what would now be considered illegal aliens. To deny these children, would be to deny our own ancestors. We weren't turned away. These children should likewise be accepted in the same way. William McCown
This is a chance for young kids to prove to themselves to the world that they can do it! this is not about where you are from or where you were born, its about the drive that these kids have! to do what they want to do to be succesful in their lives. WE want to be better people and the Dream Act will help us in realizing the potentional we have!
I believe that students who have grown up here in the USA should be given a chance to become citizens, provided that they are in good standing, and want to become integrated as Americans, and not as "foreign national" living in America.
My hope is that this bill will give that opportunity to these young people
The youth of illegal immigrants are victims or circumstance and should not be punished for the actions of their parents. They had no choice...let's give them a chance!
I support this act for all the people who had no choice in their future. Even though it doesn't seem to directly effect me, it could give my boyfriend the chance to go to college, support me and a family, and live his dreams. I believe it will be a great change and opportunity for the US!
I want the DREAM ACT to pass because I want to go to college and become someone in life.
I will keep praying that our God will show us once again his power in this situation and that he will touch the hearts of the Senators and Leaders so that they may pass the Dream Act because it will help thousands of great students with high GPA get into college, so that they may pursuit their dreams and aspirations. Many of these students want to benefit the US with their knowledge, but cannot because of the immigration rules and guidelines.
I know that the best is yet to come for all those who are waiting for this miracle.
The day the DREAM Act is passed is the day all will rejoice. Can't ask for equality in everything, but if it's to better oneself, why not allow everyone the opportunity?
I want this reform to past so i can go to college
I support this reform, and i want this reform to be accomplish, because many student like my self are suffering by this terrible laws that U.S government are doing this to students that want to have a dream like me. So i want my dream to be accomplish and i want to be some one in this country.
Please use your legislative power to help young high school students who fall victim to the deportation back to their home countries when their families remain under Visa protection.
The DREAM ACT should pass because it would help alot of people like me that, couldn't go further with my education to actually go further in life and succeed to the max. It is very important to us in order to get ahead without any road big blocks.
Ted Fu also inspired me to sign and support this.
I think that the dream act is very important because it will help make other children's dream of becoming someone important in this country real. This will give many illegal childern many chances of having a bright future. So i think that this program is a new start to our country.
Dream Act needs to be passed as soon as possible. Please let this act pass!!
This is act should be passed! Not only is it economically benficial but its basic logic! Think of it like this. What if your parents told you that you were moving? Even if you didnt want to would you have a choice? Probably not, so why should these youth, my husband included, have to pay for what their parents did? We wouldnt be punished for our parents killing somebody would we? They need to pass this act, like NOW!
We need this Act in order for justice to be done for all Americans.
everyone have a chance to do something with their life rather then get stuck in the middle. They didn't choose this life of getting stuck in the US by choice it was given to them so this should be passed for the less fortunate.
I could not imagine a more reasonable proposal that would enrich this country, which is also quite difficult to abuse.
I am a citizen born and raised here .I no many young teenagers that graduated with my kids last year. That cant plan for the furture. That realy saddins me. This act would be a blessing!!!
This is essential to the future of America. I work in schools where bright children face a horrible future. We need this workforce. Please enact the dream act.
The Dream Act should be passed, there are so many students like myself that need is law to be passed. I'm fortunate to be attending a community college for now, but I don't know for how much longer my parents can help me out, even with loans. The Dream Act, would really help me and others who also came to the US.as children and graduated High School here, finish our careers.
my biggest fear is gradutating because i know that after that happens i have little cahnce of succeeding without a legal status in this country no matter how succesful i am now im high school this would be the biggest help in the world i support the Dream Act.
WE need this law to pass!.. We want to be Americans and be part of this beautiful country
The Dream Act will give me a second chance. I was brought to the United States when I was only 12. I finished high school and attended a community college for two years.. However I had to come back to my home country because I could not afford a 4 year school. This act would give me a chance of going back to the place that I love and cherish.
Pass the Dream Act.. It is a our second chance...
I want earn my dream i need a chance.
Ted Fu inspired me to sign this.
The Dream Act must be passed so that my adopted grandson, Mark, can complete his studies and not have to return to England when he is 21. If this should happen the Dennis family will be split. Steamboat would lose a hard-working consciencious family who give greatly to the community.
My parents brought me to the U.S in 1995 if been here ever since.I love it here and i don't know anything else tgan here,if I was to be taking back to mexico I wouldnt know where to go.I graduated in May of this year and I really wanted to go to college but I can't go because I am illegal,it really breaks my heart when my parents can't do nothing about it
I'm foreign on both sides. I hope this bill passes soon.
I am a junior at CSU Long Beach majoring in Social Work and getting a minor in Psychology. Beside all the stress that school can cause to any college student, my biggest stressor is the current fact that I may not be able to fulfill my dream of working and contributing to my community like everyone else. Despite my fear and anger I will continue to fight for my dream because MY DREAM COUNTS TOO!
I was born in mexico but raised in the usa so i am not just a mexican i am a MEXICAN-AMERICAN.
I support this comprehensive BIll!!
Graduating from high school with honors had given me strong hopes for building my future. For the past three and a half years I have been an "AB540" student at a local community college; completed my GED. Where I stand now, gives me no opportunities to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. The DREAM ACT needs to be passed now! I, and many other "AB540" students need to move on.
I am also the byproduct of this lack of inactivedness. Please help Mr. President. I have a Masters in Education and can not teach due to my lack of a greencard.
Thank you
I am in support of the Dream Act. I was born on the fourth of July, 1993 in the U.S. My brother was born in the United Kingdom and moved to the United States when he was four months old along with our parents. He and my parents have been on visa's for nineteen years, yet it is still impossible for them acquire citizenship. My brother is nineteen and as it is now, he can not be on our parent’s visa after he turns 21 years. The DREAM Act would allow him and many other kids to have a pathway to become citizens.
We are here to contribute to the united states. all we ask for is an opportunity to demonstrate that we are all Americans who love this country and who just want to be a part of it. we are contributors please give us the opportunity to succed!!
My nephew has lived in the USA since he was 4 months old. He has studied hard at school and is now attending Boulder university on a four year course. Because of the laws of the USA he will have to cut short his course when he is 21 and return to a country he hardly knows, leaving behind his family and not being able to complete his Batchelor degree. Surely the USA should be encouraging young people like Mark to stay in the USA and complete their studies not turning their backs on them. Please let this Dream act proceed and stop splitting families.
To be able to have the persistence required to wait for such a monumental bill is an amazing feat by itself. However, to have that persistence along with the willpower and determination to follow your dreams and never allow others' actions to waver your ultimate decision of becoming successful.... that makes me believe that, one day, the world will be a great place because of these incredible people.
We should have the opportunity to dream of our future like all of our other classmates.
The Dream Act would make the dreams of my sister and family, a reachable goal.
This is one of the most important things that Congress must approve. Some undocumeted immigrants come to the US for a safer life. They want to be a part of society and work for the greater good. Many kids have worked hard through school and as they are ready to graduate they can not continue to higher education.
Please pass the dream act, this is going to revitalize our country
Please pass the dream act, this is going to revitalize our country
