I was also brought here by my parents when I was two years old. I am currently going to college, and I will graduate soon with an associates of science. I would love to continue to attend school and ultimately get a Business degree.

I have been married to a U.S citizen for seven years now..and I have not been able to gain any legal status because I did not have legal entry into the country. I do not think that I should be held responsible for something I did not do. This is the only country I know and the only one I am loyal to...I believe myself to be American just like any person who has love and loyalty to this country.

I wasnt born in the USA, my father neither, but im still a citizen. and even though i might not need this act the people i love do. and our people do, Let them follow their dreams dear President. I am my family's first born "American." I know what it is like to be the first to go to college and the odds stacked against children of the working class immigrant. My heart goes out to those young people who have worked long and hard to accomplish their dreams. Young people should not be punished for choices they did not take part in making. American should cherish the passionate hearts and minds who have the potential to positively contribute to the future. Aid young people in becoming citizens and pursue the life goals their families struggled to come to this country for their children to acheive--support the Dream Act!

It's about time this year for Congress and the President to enact the DREAM Act. The long wait should be over because a lot of undocumented students are suffering from pursuing their college education. They want to be contributing members of this country of immigrants. Legalize the innocent children, allow them to succeed, and let them serve this nation with their oath of allegiance. Let the DREAM Act succeed and not become a nightmare! Congress and the President must act right now!!!

We should not penalize kids who were brought here illegally by their parents. They did not knowingly or willingly break any law. They should be given a path to citizenship especially since these kids all went to school in the U.S. and then get stuck when they can't go to college. Let them become productive members of society.

posted by Tami Carty on Jul-15-2010 - at 5:10:10PM from NJ

This would be a great idea, to give many young kids who were brought to the U.S. against their will, an opportunity to excel, and do something productive with their lives.

Kids who were brought to this country, without knowing it is illegal, should not have to be seen as criminals. The Kids who grew up in this country have no other recolation than the one's made in the US. Give the, innocent, youth the chance to succed and prove to this NATION of IMMIGRANTS, that they are here to make a difference--just like myself.

My dream has always been to be an obstetrician. I have faith that a dream act will be passed this year. If it is not passed, I have no idea what I will do. I dont want to spent the rest of my life working my butt off just to survive here. I pray everyday that something is done for this is my country, I have lived here my whole life. I cannot afford college because of my status and if I did what will I do with a degree and no job?

I support the Dream Act. I am an AB 540 student striving to obtain an education. Unfortunately, because of my legal status, I am unable to receive any financial aid other than scholarships. I am trying to save money and will be applying for scholarships in order to be able to afford to attend UCSD in Fall of 2011. Because of the cost of school, I don't think it will be enough. Therefore, I have created a website - www.thefinishline.weebly.com in order to raise money. If the dream act were to pass, my dream would come true. Please help get it passed.

My parents are not citizens and i have no children or spouse. I have lived here all my life, and and don't even know Costa Rica, the country in which i was originally born. All i am is a functioning member of an American society that gave me a dream to better myself since i was young, and now i cannot achieve or realize that dream because I don't have a piece of paper that says i can. but i do know this.. whether i stay or i go, I am an American, and I will take my American mentality, and my American way of live, and be successful else where..!!

It is imperitive that our law makers focus on a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system. Families are being torn apart. People of sound moral character are being treated like crimminals and caged like animals. This is a monumental task but we have got to start somewhere. "The Dream Act" is a proposed federal legisaltion that addresses those young people that through no choice of their own were brought into this country illegally at a young age and grew up with dreams and aspirations similiar to the legal residents of the U.S. They are prvented from pursuing higher education and at any moment can be deported to a country they are no longer familiar with. Please pass legislation that will keep their spirit alive. They are the future hope of our country.

I fully support the Dream Act and what it would represent to thousands of young students. I have seen first hand how difficult it is for these individuals when they cannot get a driver's license, they cannot get into college, they cannot attend a college that accepted them on a soccer scholarship, because they don't have a social security number, the list goes on and on. Many of these students want nothing more than to live productive lives in the US and to become contributing citizens. I think the benefits to passing this act will be far-reaching for our nation.

posted by Linda Riddle on Jul-14-2010 - at 6:26:57PM from CA

This is such an important piece of legislature. Young adults who were brought to this country illegally as children and grew up here, should have the chance to live the American Dream we've been selling them while they attended our public schools. This is the home they know. This is the country they love. They go to high school, participate in AVID, earn the grades and plan for college just to discover they have no rights and no guaranteed avenue for gaining citizenship. They graduate, turn 18, and are abandoned by the system that sold them the dream in the first place. I believe first priority citizenship should go to children from our neighbor next door (Mexico).

I am an AB540 college student. Its ready hard for me to go to college, but i am not giving up. I have to work full time so I can pay my rent, car insuranse, gasoline, food and personal stuff. Im taking 9 units per semester, and its hard. but once again I am NOT giving. My major is in Child Development I have been here with my brothers since I was 11, I am 20 years old now. My life is here.

The dream act should be unanimously supported. It is well written, fair, and provides an opportunity for the youth to not only become educated but earn a better life. They would become american citizens both on paper and in terms of education.

PLEASE PASS THE DREAM ACT! I JUST GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL WITH HONORS AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF MY STATUS! I HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE I WAS 5 YEARS OLD, SO I'VE BEEN LIVING HERE FOR 13 YEARS AND NOW THAT I AM OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, I CAN'T GET MY DREAM CAREER OR GET ANY OF MY DREAMS ACCOMPLISHED! I SPEAK 3 LANGUAGES, A WHIZ AT WRITING AND READING AND I WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER OR A WRITER BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE STUPID PAPERS... SOME SAY THAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SHOULDN'T GET PAPERS BUT WHAT US YOUNG ADULTS WHO WERE TAKEN HERE BY KIDS HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT OUR PARENTS DECIDED TO DO? IT'S NOT FAIR! I AM 100% LIBERAL AND I BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR US EDUCATED PEOPLE TO GET WHAT WE DESERVE!

It is a shame that AMERICA will not give students the opportunity to prove their skills and ambitions because of their legal status. Many of these students have lived in the U.S. their entire life and have been living the American lifestyle. So why not give those who want a future, the chance to prove that they can too be someone in life one day? We all share this world and we should all be treated equally with no judgements and restrictions. The Dream Act should be passed!!!!!!
