One of my best friends from high school is a British citizen who moved to my hometown when he was four months old. We are both alpine ski racers and because of this we spent a ton of time together during the winter and our families got really close. I consider his father to be my second Dad. We're both sophomores at CU Boulder now, and I've just learned that in two years he'll have to go back to the UK and divide his family in half. (His mom would go back with him.) It's bad that he won't ever get his bachelor's degree this way, but it's even worse that it would rip his family in two. I would miss Mark and Alison like crazy. Something has to be done about this!

My girlfriend, today called me and was crying because of the fact her case has been denied, to stay in the United States. She has been living here for 14 years and because of her and her organization the CUNY budget wasn't cut. A person like this is being sent back to her home country where she has no family, and no one to go to. This isn't fair, if America is for the people, now the people call out to America, help those in need. I wish I can directly speak to Obama about this, and have him realize that potential is being thrown out. If we want this country to grow, then we have to keep the people (students) to continue. They can all be doctors, lawyers, etc., to help the country, and that looks better for the country. If America is really what it portrays itself to be, please pass the ACT

I support the Dream Act. I have so many over achieving friends that graduated from high school and don't get to go to their dream schools after high school. They should have the right to continue their studies, some were brought here involuntarily. They know no other country than the U.S and why should they be deported.

My husband and I have known the Dennis family, Alison, Martin, Matthew and Mark for many years. During this time we have observed the children grow and mature into fine young men. They have excelled in school and the eldest, Mark, is now a fine student at CU, Boulder. Matthew is a high achieving student at the Steamboat Springs High School. Martin and Alison are extremely hard working and own their own business. During these hard economic times they have been creative in keeping their employees working. At some times sacrificing their personal lives to make sure their employees stay employed. Their first concern and commitment as a family is for their children. I have seen them frequently and know that the boys (now young men) are flourishing under their parentage. I believe that forcing this family to separate would be an extreme hardship. I support the DREAM ACT. Do not allow this legislation destroy honest law abiding families.

I, personaly believe that this law should be passed in order for young adults to go to college. People came to America for a change, it is not the childrens falt that their their parents brought them here illegally. They, too are people with dreams and hopes and just because of some papers they will not be able to succeed. Think of all the people that will not become the next one to find a cure for a disease or make a difference. Please pass the act.

We have been in the US legally now for almost 20 years on E2 Visas. We moved when our eldest son was 4 months old. He is now in his second year at college, but may have to cut his studies short and return to to his "home country" when he turns 21 years old. He would have to establish "strong ties" with his home country before being able to return on a student's visa to finish his studies. This would be devastating to our family including his younger American brother. Please pass the DREAM Act and keep families together.

I work for a wonderful couple that own a business here in Colorado and have two sons, one was brought here at 4 months of age the other born here. The oldest is now 19 years old and in college, when he turns 21 he will need to return to England and establish strong ties with his home country to satisfy the requirements for the F1 student's visa. As he has lived in America all of his life this would be quite the transition for him as well as his family. It would take a good year for him to find work and experience in England inorder to satisfy this requirement, resulting in one of his parents moving back with him and dividing a family as well as leaving a business short handed here in the US. The Dream Act is important to family's who are here legally paying business and personal taxes, running a respected business in the community and volunteering and helping people in time of need, not to mention employing American Citizens. These children should be able to stay in the country they call their own, I as an American citizen am asking you to please pass this act for those children who by all intent are American, it not only affects their lifes but other families as well. Thank you.

I've been living in the United States for over ten years. I recently got accepted into UCLA and am going there this fall. However, despite my family's eligible income, I didn't get any form of financial aid because we are all living here on an E2 visa. My parents now have to support my two younger brothers in high school AND pay for my college tuition that reaches over 30,000 dollars. Please pass the Dream Act so that many aspiring students like myself will be opened to more opportunities.

Without this immediate reform all the people who were planning on becoming future students and having a successful career would not have that opportunity due to the act they had no choice when being brought to the uunited states, and due to this, many of them would turn to crime or end up somewhere where they weren't supposed to end up. We need to push forth in this act to help better the USA because he knows all the bright students that could have become part of a new successful country in which they weren't able to do since they were brought into this land of promise at such a young age.

Sen Charles Schumer is one of the key persons and is with holding his support as he wants the whole immigration reform to include this. Sen. Schumer has already taken one step in voting for more border patrol. Now we need to ask him....especially you of NY...to act on the DREAM ACT in the fall session. Please call his offices in NY and request his support for S. 729.

I have been here since i was three years old, graduated from my high school ranked 10 in my class, and now attending a community college that accepted me as an undocumented student. i want to pursue bigger and better things in a university and develop skills that will promote this country to better standings. However, i am burdened by my immigration status. This DREAM act will not only alleviate my situation but it will also promote the American job force legally, the true intentions of immigration itself. I did not choose to become illegal, it was just a matter of circumstances under which i cam with my parents to America and now i am facing the consequences. This DREAM act is a god send and hopefully it will pass, giving hope and a future for many in my situation.

These children deserve a fair chance. Many have been here since they were babies and had no choice and are waiting. I know someone personally who has filed with the government to get their legal papers well over 10 years ago and is still waiting. Why so long? They came as a child, no choice, know nothing else and have nowhere to return. This law will help many who have no record and are upright citizens to have a life like we do. They deser4ve it! I pray you will have a heart and pass this for these children without making them wait any longer.

She has no social security number, so she is not able to take Dual Credit classes this year, our senior year of high school. I couldn't feel worse about it! I do not want her to not be able to attend college after this school year, so I support this Act. In the Bible, God tells us through Leviticus 19:33-34 “When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God." Unless we support the educational progress of all young people in the country, we can look forward to continued economic strife. The gap between available jobs and well qualified applicants only widens by the year as some of our brightest and most motivated young people are denied the opportunity to become educationally prepared, contributing citizens. Instead, we have roadblocks that put them between a rock and a hard place: work under the table for pennies or commit crimes in order to scratch out a living. And then we wonder why our jails are filled, our welfare system has become an institution, and our high-paying jobs are going to well-educated folks from overseas.
Please pass the DREAM Act now. The future of our country depends on it.

I am 30 years old, and the dream act would finally complete me. The sorrow and depression of being undocumented can only be understood by people that are going through the same, and to a certain extent by their documented family members. We still have to eat, we still have to pay rent and even taxes. I have to feed my children and make a living somehow. I want to be an equal participant of this society. I'm not asking for a handout or for pity, but instead for fairness and acceptance.

Our founding fathers would have found it incomprehensible that anyone would oppose this legislation. To consider that someone would put their life on the line as a member of the military without a path to citizenship absolutely shows no gratitude for the sacrifice they are willing to put forth. Opposition to the Dream Act goes against the grain of the "give me your poor, your hungry, thirsting to be free" sentiment that once offered a path forward for hundreds of thousands of immigrants from Europe and other foreign countries. The story hasn't changed from the early 1900's. But now, the immigrants are from other places, but with the same thirst. Most of the young people who this bill applies to did not come here of their own volition, they came with their parents. They have lived along side of us, as part of us, and have been collectively raised by us as our children. They are, in effect, ours, and we have no other honor bound responsibility but to embrace them as our own, and march to the future as a family. My distant ancestors came here as what would now be considered illegal aliens. To deny these children, would be to deny our own ancestors. We weren't turned away. These children should likewise be accepted in the same way. William McCown

The Dream Act must be passed so that my adopted grandson, Mark, can complete his studies and not have to return to England when he is 21. If this should happen the Dennis family will be split. Steamboat would lose a hard-working consciencious family who give greatly to the community.

I am a junior at CSU Long Beach majoring in Social Work and getting a minor in Psychology. Beside all the stress that school can cause to any college student, my biggest stressor is the current fact that I may not be able to fulfill my dream of working and contributing to my community like everyone else. Despite my fear and anger I will continue to fight for my dream because MY DREAM COUNTS TOO!

Graduating from high school with honors had given me strong hopes for building my future. For the past three and a half years I have been an "AB540" student at a local community college; completed my GED. Where I stand now, gives me no opportunities to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. The DREAM ACT needs to be passed now! I, and many other "AB540" students need to move on.

I am in support of the Dream Act. I was born on the fourth of July, 1993 in the U.S. My brother was born in the United Kingdom and moved to the United States when he was four months old along with our parents. He and my parents have been on visa's for nineteen years, yet it is still impossible for them acquire citizenship. My brother is nineteen and as it is now, he can not be on our parent’s visa after he turns 21 years. The DREAM Act would allow him and many other kids to have a pathway to become citizens.

My nephew has lived in the USA since he was 4 months old. He has studied hard at school and is now attending Boulder university on a four year course. Because of the laws of the USA he will have to cut short his course when he is 21 and return to a country he hardly knows, leaving behind his family and not being able to complete his Batchelor degree. Surely the USA should be encouraging young people like Mark to stay in the USA and complete their studies not turning their backs on them. Please let this Dream act proceed and stop splitting families.

To be able to have the persistence required to wait for such a monumental bill is an amazing feat by itself. However, to have that persistence along with the willpower and determination to follow your dreams and never allow others' actions to waver your ultimate decision of becoming successful.... that makes me believe that, one day, the world will be a great place because of these incredible people.

We should have the opportunity to dream of our future like all of our other classmates.

This is one of the most important things that Congress must approve. Some undocumeted immigrants come to the US for a safer life. They want to be a part of society and work for the greater good. Many kids have worked hard through school and as they are ready to graduate they can not continue to higher education.

I have worked with many outstanding young people who fall into this category. Many of these are more conscientious and are of moral character than some native young people who take their citizenship for granted. We need Dream Act qualifiers to stay here and share their goodness with America and the world.
