An educated nation is a strong nation. America is already falling behind in education stats among many G-20s. It is time we stop discriminating and start worrying about the future of this nation. Think how far China and other developed nations are ahead of us. For God's sake, if a person living in this country actually wants to go to college, it is a rarity and should be encouraged for the benefit of all - not discouraged!!! Think long term.

I am an undocumented college student in America. I, like the millions that are in my same situation, want and NEED desperately for the DREAM ACT to be signed into law. I was brought here when I was only a year old by my parents, whom only wanted a better life for me. If you believe the people who oppose this law then technically I was already a criminal at the tender age of one without even being able to comprehend the simplest things in life. I plead with the lawmakers of this great country to sympathize with us because after all even even murders get paroled and given a second chance. All I have ever wanted was to receive my college education and become a contributor to society please to turn my DREAM into a nightmare.

I am a retired teacher of 37 years. I have many former students who would benefit from the Dream Act. One was smuggled into the country as an infant in a shoebox stuffed under a car's dashboard. His parents no longer live here. He has never lived anywhere but California. He graduates from high school this week and this would offer him hope and an opportunity to gain citizenship. He is a great person and wants to be an American!

I was blessed to be born within the borders of the US but my fiancee wasnt, he was brought here when he was 2 years old. He went graduated highschool with honors in 2007 and desired to continue his education but wasnt able to. We met over a year ago and he proposed to me and I accepted. We welcomed our first child 2 months ago and it was then when the reality of our situation set in. My fiancee is a very good man and we dream together of the life we could have if this DREAM ACT is put in place. Otherwise he will be sent back to his birth country which he is unfamiliar with, where he will definitely feel like an outsider. Our son needs a guarantee that his father will always be here for him.

Undocumented students, and their families, have worked hard and sacrificed much to realize their dream of obtaining a college education to conribute to the betterment of our country and to help make the lives of their families a little easier. These students are not eligible to receive much of the financial aid that is available to citizens, so they are often paying the entire cost of their education themselves. Persons of such astounding character are what made this country great; they deserve an opportunity to become citizens through the DREAM Act.

We are a female vet peer support group that has recognized that many women of color were raped in the military. Therefore we support the dream act in that it allows women to heal through the use of thier own minds. Part of that healing is education and getting degrees to go own with ones life, The other a part is activism agsint this type of rape but education is also a part of the healing process. If one looks at the oil spill in the gulf of mexico that took an adminstration a long time to respond to one could interpret that non response as racsim toward Indian land. I think we need to allow bright minds to come up with solutions to such problems that are occurring with this nation. It is about stopping racism.

Do the right thing for these kids who had no say in how they got here, have endured a life of fear of being deported and yet have worked hard and been successful academically. Pass this legislation NOW before we lose more kids to poverty.

We are a nation of Immigrants and need the children of today's Immigrants to assure our health as a nation. So many people are choosing no to have children, not even to marry. Our pets are being treated better than children, especially the children we choose not to have. Our median age in this country tells the story. Yet our Immigrants call us to values we have forgotten, and once they can be counted and contribute, we will all be richer.

The US needs to develop every intellectual resource possible to remain competitive with overseas adversaries and trading partners. Immigrant kids have everything absent from so many non-immigrant kids: bilingual, bicultural, adaptive with a high tolerance for cultural ambiguity, drive, vigor, character, values, work ethic. Denying them access to higher education sabotages this nation's cultural survival. Suppor the Dream Act.

They had no choice in this matter, and now have built a life here. They want the possibility to go to college in the United States and make a difference in the world. Let's not deny them this.

As a person who grew up in a very diverse Latino community, I saw many fellow classmates from my graduating class having to give up their opportunity to attend a really good university because of their legal status. I'm saddened, because I know how much they can contribute to our society, as doctors, engineers..etc. Those undocumented students were some of the brightest people in my graduating class, and the most they can do is attended a community college. It's such a shame and they aren't being given the chance to reach their highest potential. We must really push our elected officials to do something about passing the DREAM ACT! Writing letters (by hand), holding meetings in our communities, trying to meet with our elected officials...in other words BEING PROACTIVE, it is not enough to sit here and write about it.

Immigrants that were brought to America at an early age and have completed an American education should have the right to become legal citizens without fear of deportation, especially those that want to attend colleges and universities. SOME SAY THAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SHOULDN'T GET PAPERS BUT WHAT US YOUNG ADULTS WHO WERE TAKEN HERE BY KIDS HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT OUR PARENTS DECIDED TO DO? IT'S NOT FAIR! I AM 100% LIBERAL AND I BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR US EDUCATED PEOPLE TO GET WHAT WE DESERVE!

It is a shame that AMERICA will not give students the opportunity to prove their skills and ambitions because of their legal status. Many of these students have lived in the U.S. their entire life and have been living the American lifestyle. So why not give those who want a future, the chance to prove that they can too be someone in life one day? We all share this world and we should all be treated equally with no judgements and restrictions. The Dream Act should be passed!!!!!!

It's time to pass this needed bill in Congress and for it to be signed by the president. These young people should be allowed to finish their education and become citizens of our great country. These are law-abiding students doing the right thing. they want to make their way in our society and they have earned that right. The law needs to be passed as soon as possible. This is what our country was founded on. Freedom.

It is a shame that illegals crossing the border (can't call them immigrants) are treated with more respect than those whom have abided by all of our visa requirements for years and are prevented citizenship in this country. Martin and Alison Dennis have made significant contributions to this town of Steamboat Springs, the state of Colorado and this country of ours. Hopefully, the bipartisan effort to pass the Dream act will become a reality for this wonderful family.

The dream Act must be passed to allow my grandson and others like him who came to the United States legally as infants and were brought up as loyal American citizens for a number of years to remain with their families in the United States and provide the dedication and skill required to build the great nation.
