i was brought to the US when i wass only 1 1/2 years old. i am now 21 and with a desire to persue my education as a nurse. unfortunately, i cant because i am still "illegal" in the US. even though i was raised here my whole life. please support the dream of many students who want an education, and a better life for themselves. support the DREAM ACT!!
Lets keep Dreaming! This is our country too! I support the Dream act!
It's shameful that California and the nation has yet to find a way to support undocumented youth. The K-12 system pushes them into pre-college programs, and fills their heads with dreams of college and careers. Even if they earn a degree using the AB-540, they are not authorized to get a legitimate job. Even worse, if they get deported, they are in a strange country, without any personal connections.
My Name Is Miguel and i am a U.S Citizen. I came to the U.S from Mexico when i was 10 years old. Growing up with many undocumented friends ive seen the strugle that has come into their lives because like many immigrants, they come here with the illusion of the american dream only to find out that for them there is no such thing. ive oftend though of how if my friends could, they would go to college and pursue their dreams. even sadder to think about, is of the youth who have such opportunity but waste it. with the dream act undocumented youth reseive the opportunity that they desire and deserve.
Mr. president and congressmen, nothing to say here because everything is said, please act now for the future of this country, because all those honor students who can not continou studiying, are the future professionals the country need, this mean the country need to hire foreing professionals to cover jobs that can be occupied for this student if you give them the opportunity to get on in the universities today. Please "don't be immediate think in the future".
My boyfriend was brought here 7 years ago and is now 18. His family isnt doing anything to help him so I am the only support he has. We really need this DREAM ACT to pass to help him get a job, and get a better education. People shouldnt punish kids for their parents bringing them over here illegally. The kids dont have anything to say against their parents because all they can do is follow what they are told. The DREAM ACT will give so many students to opportunity to start over and have a better life. Students who havnt done anything wrong shouldnt be punished, most kids and students that are here this is the only life they can remember because they have been here for so long. This DREAM ACT will help their future and I dont understnad why anyone would oppose the Dream Act because the students will have to pay money to go to college, or they will be surving in the Military so its not like they willl be doing something bad. So please, help the students of America.
Thanks :)
I was brought to the US in search of a better life when i was 9, not to be hanicaped by it. I am almost going to graduate high school and i cant work to pay for the univeristy that has accepted me. I was also denied by some scholarships because of my status. Its not my fault and i need a little help.
My girlfriend was brought here against her will when she was only 8 years old...that wasnt her decision to come here illegally but now shes here and she needs help...shes 18 cant work and family has basically abandoned her...she cant do anything for herself financially...i really think this should be passed because when the kids are brought here like this and grow up and cant work they practice identity theft or rob and still and sell drugs and etcetra and i think passing this act would help to put a stop to some of that
My parents brought me to the United States since I was nine with the thought of my sisters and me having a better future. I graduated high school in 2007 and that same year started to attend college. But I have been struggling to keen on going due my status, I cannot work and many scholarships have denied me because of my status. All I want is status to be clear so I can work and finish my career. Millions of students are in my situation that probably want the same. So let our voices be heard!
I've been in the United States since i was 8 months old.
Now im a senior in high school, and I've struggled all along. Why learn a second language?, why be in a college preparatory program in high school if at the end it will not help me reach my goals and dreams? There is no possibility of me getting a job to pay for my education and that is the sad part, some of us do want to succeed in life and that is something that others don't even take into consideration. My staus has stopped me from doing many things of which i desire. It is time for us to prove those who are against us illegal immigrants wrong, the decisons our parents made aren't our fault. All we need is the OPPORTUNITY, if only that is given to us we'll prove everyone that we want to be someone in life.
As a white male citizen of the United States born and raised in Oklahoma I support an immigration policy which is family friendly. Those who have been living, working, and attending school in the shadows here for years should be allowed an easy pathway to citizenship. Every citizen of America must realize that at one time we had an ancestor who were immigrants too. It is because of immigration that America is the envy of the world. Let's do the right thing and not teat families apart but make them stronger.
Believe in the American Freedom and give opportunity to those who prove to succeed in our Country. Its only right for the chance to be an American. I found the one woman I would marry and I am in the middle of this confrontation so if it means supporting I will.
I need this to pass, I'm a junior in high school and have been in the U.S since first grade. I'm planing on going to college but don't know if I'll be able to.
Being able to attend college, and live the american life has been my biggest and only dream I've had ever since i can rember,I pray to God that the Dream Act is approved and that student illeagal immigrants are given the same oppurtunities(:
Hi,
I'm an illegal alien. I have lived in the United States since I was five. I was raised here and consider this my home. After I graduted from high school, my life became grim. The thought of me not being able to have a decent future here in the States has crushed my spirit. I can't stop thinking about my uncertain future. It kills me every day that I am unable to simply drive a car or even get a job to help my struggling parents feed my younger siblings. I'm not a bad person. I want to help others. I'd like to be a nurse. This is the only life I get to live. I want to be somebody. Somebody my mother, brother, and sister can be proud of. I wish to be a father one day and want to be able to provide my children with more than barely enough to get by. I don't want my children and wife go through the poverty I lived as a kid. I love this country but am unable to say I'm proud to be an American. I just want a little bit of light shined in my direction telling me that I have a chance at a good life here.
When I graduated high school, I received a $3,000 scholarship from the Government to pay for my college. I am not a legal resident or a citizen, yet the Government helped me to achieve my goal of a higher education, the only problem now is that I cannot get a job because of my legal status, therefor I can't give back this country what it has given me.
We want to be North-Americans and make this country stronger.
I support this bill, and pray that it passes.
I HAVE A DREAM,LIKE ANY OTHER YOUNG HISPANIC STUDENT.IF WE HAVE LIVED IN THE USA OUR WHOLE LIFE IT'S FAIR TO AT LEAST BECOME LEGAL CITIZENS.TO REACH OUR GOALS AND DREAMS.
I support the Dream Act to the fullest.
This will be a great opportunity.
this act will allow many hard working students to get into college. this bill could potentially save the lives of millions, and resort to an well educated america
I understand how the future of our country will be improved by passing the Dream Act. Our student have so much to offer this country if they are given the opportunity to continue with their education. It will be an investment that will be worth 100%, so the American Dream can continue via education.

This bill is essential for youth to have doors open up for them. I pray this bill is passed very very soon.
There are many bright keds out there that needs better educaion for the future of this country. Please lets not wait any longer to pass this law. These are the kids that're going to make difference in this society.
God bless ....
Hello Everybody,
All I want to do is go to college for photography and avertisement and get a decent job to live a normal live.
Please!!! Lets all keep on praying to God to give up this Chance for life.
I have a dream of becoming an electrical Engineer and I want to accomplish all my goals in life, but if this Bill is not passed, many students education and dreams will go to waste. This will make thousands of students dreams come true.
I am a DREAMER!!
and I believe this bill will passed!!!
Please sing the petition..!!!
It was only about 4 months ago that I was a right winged individual who believed the borders should be closed and illegal immigrants, regardless of who they are, should be deported...that thinking is completly out of my mind ever since I found out the love of my life was an illegal citizen...
This changed my whole idea on immigration quite radically. She is a very hard working student who excells in her eduacation and strives to a be a nurse one day. With the dream act passing our DREAM of her becoming a legal citizen and spending the rest our lives in this country with education under our belts can become a reality.
This proposal is key to a very big, positive change in the United States. One that not just affect this young man thats passoinate about his love. But one that would benefit all the of the United States.
The United States does not guarantee an equal opportunity, but by denying people that are as innocent and human as the next person the opportunity to become educated should be a crime. Innocent kids are brought into this country to grow, and denying them the opportunity to develop to their full potential after giving them a K-12th grade education seems idiotic. The government was built to help its people, so HELP them. Give these people a chance, because they deserve it, and because they could potentially become great contributors to society.
Everybody deserves to live. There's definently no exception if your parents did something against our laws. I don't understand why people think otherwise.
If you couldn't go to college because of something that your parents did, would that be fair?
GROOVY BABY
Well done! I am so happy to by supporting this organization, and cannot wait to see the changes it will make in the world!
Please make this happen
I think that the DREAM Act is an amazingly important bill that NEEDS to be passed (in my opinion).
United we stand!!!
The first step is our prayer for God blessing and justice because he love all the Immigrant people.
The DREAM Act 2009 is the opportunity for our youth in order that can have a future and being far from streets danger. Youth without opportunities are in danger of drugs, alcoholism and delinquency. Thank you.
my boy friend of 6 years migrated here with his mother at the age of 3. He'll be 23 this upcoming January, and unfortunately he hasn't achieved what he could have if he had some form of documentation that would allow him to work and live with the "peace of mind" that everyone craves. It hurts me because I know that he's struggling. He's being underpaid and the only thing he has left is school and patience. If something like the DREAM Act where to be passed, it would be one more step for us to continue and pursue our life goals with each other. I love him and what I see in his eyes everyday hurts me because I know that he's hurting too. He's afraid to pursue his career because he feels that if he does, it might not go will and would risk the chance of loosing the underpaid job he has now.
I hope that something can come of this and soon.
Let these individuals live the American dream!!
D.R.E.AM!!
I know that God will help those who need help, and change thousands of lives by passing the Dream act, countless of our friends and loved ones are waiting for the chance to contribute to our great country and help us move forward to a better future.
America won't regret passing this Act.
Besides all of the human rights issues that have been expressed by others, it is also better for the country to keep people who have been raised and educated. I don't mean this to sound crass or offensive but, in an economic sense, each child is a society's investment; it is better to reap the rewards of that investment rather than throw them away.
Every morning in school i have to pledge "...with liberty and justice for all" i dont believe that part of the pledge of alligance is true. i'm going to be a lawyer, and with my knowledge in laws, acts, and amendaments i believe that this act is completely fair and makes a lot of sence. Kids dont come here because they want to, and parents don't leave theyre home lands for their own good, they do it for their kids to have a good future. This is supposed to be the land of opportunity, and what opportunity do we have?....we learn a whole new language, go to school and learn American history, and have to get used to a whole new style of life away from our loved ones. This DREAM act is the least the U.S gorvernment can give us after all the pain and injustice we've had to go through because of our parents decisions.
I came to america when i was 8 years old. I went to school here from first grade till high school. In 1996 my father won the lottery to become legal in the u.s.a. The process is still. Twelve years later our process is still undecided. I am fortunate enough to have at least a social securtiy to be able to drive and attend a community college. However because I don't have my green card I have to pay as a international student at my school. My mom is a widow and to pay almost four hundred dollar per credit is a very big struggle for us. However I am not giving up and I am working hard and getting my nursing degree even if it takes me ten years. What makes me said is that I graduated top ofmy high school class with a very good sat score. I got excepted to great college such as Boston College, and Tufts and unfortunately I won't be able to attend the schools that I worked so hard to get in. I won some scholarship in school but unfortunately couln't receive them because of my status. I just prayer and hope that some day the united goverment will grant us illegal students this chance to better our lives. Please support this bill.
My parents brought me to the US illegally when i was 6 months old. I'm fortunate enough to be in the great stae of Illinois, a state that permits me to be in college. However, due to my status I can't get employment. I'm hoping that in a few years I will have to recieve a vain degree.
Those through no fault of their own should not have to live a life without opportunity and be forced to live in the shadows. Give these children and young adults the dream of education which as human beings they deserve! Please support the Dream Act! Thank You for your time!
Sincerely,
Michael
I was born in the USA but I wish that undocumented hard working people deserve a chance to obtain their papers to keep the USA workforce and legallity in shape :)
It is time to stop this outrageous idea. As a legal immigrant, my job has been taken by an illegal. Our whole crew was displaced. It is time to give back jobs to the legal immigrants.
Lets do it guys!! Lets show them and get this passed!! UNITY!!!!
I have been here for 10 years now and I feel like I am at a stand still being undocumented. We need the dream act to be passed because talents and dreams of thousands are being wasted because of a decision that they never had much choice with. Pass the DREAM Act, we need it!
we need the dream act to be passed
The Dream Act should be passed, there are so many students like myself that need is law to be passed. I'm fortunate to be attending a community college for now, but I don't know for how much longer my parents can help me out, even with loans. The Dream Act, would really help me and others who also came to the US.as children and graduated High School here, finish our careers.
my biggest fear is gradutating because i know that after that happens i have little cahnce of succeeding without a legal status in this country no matter how succesful i am now im high school this would be the biggest help in the world i support the Dream Act.
WE need this law to pass!.. We want to be Americans and be part of this beautiful country
The Dream Act will give me a second chance. I was brought to the United States when I was only 12. I finished high school and attended a community college for two years.. However I had to come back to my home country because I could not afford a 4 year school. This act would give me a chance of going back to the place that I love and cherish.
Pass the Dream Act.. It is a our second chance...
I want earn my dream i need a chance.
Ted Fu inspired me to sign this.
The Dream Act must be passed so that my adopted grandson, Mark, can complete his studies and not have to return to England when he is 21. If this should happen the Dennis family will be split. Steamboat would lose a hard-working consciencious family who give greatly to the community.
My parents brought me to the U.S in 1995 if been here ever since.I love it here and i don't know anything else tgan here,if I was to be taking back to mexico I wouldnt know where to go.I graduated in May of this year and I really wanted to go to college but I can't go because I am illegal,it really breaks my heart when my parents can't do nothing about it
I'm foreign on both sides. I hope this bill passes soon.
I am a junior at CSU Long Beach majoring in Social Work and getting a minor in Psychology. Beside all the stress that school can cause to any college student, my biggest stressor is the current fact that I may not be able to fulfill my dream of working and contributing to my community like everyone else. Despite my fear and anger I will continue to fight for my dream because MY DREAM COUNTS TOO!
I was born in mexico but raised in the usa so i am not just a mexican i am a MEXICAN-AMERICAN.
I support this comprehensive BIll!!
Graduating from high school with honors had given me strong hopes for building my future. For the past three and a half years I have been an "AB540" student at a local community college; completed my GED. Where I stand now, gives me no opportunities to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. The DREAM ACT needs to be passed now! I, and many other "AB540" students need to move on.
I am also the byproduct of this lack of inactivedness. Please help Mr. President. I have a Masters in Education and can not teach due to my lack of a greencard.
Thank you
I am in support of the Dream Act. I was born on the fourth of July, 1993 in the U.S. My brother was born in the United Kingdom and moved to the United States when he was four months old along with our parents. He and my parents have been on visa's for nineteen years, yet it is still impossible for them acquire citizenship. My brother is nineteen and as it is now, he can not be on our parent’s visa after he turns 21 years. The DREAM Act would allow him and many other kids to have a pathway to become citizens.
We are here to contribute to the united states. all we ask for is an opportunity to demonstrate that we are all Americans who love this country and who just want to be a part of it. we are contributors please give us the opportunity to succed!!
My nephew has lived in the USA since he was 4 months old. He has studied hard at school and is now attending Boulder university on a four year course. Because of the laws of the USA he will have to cut short his course when he is 21 and return to a country he hardly knows, leaving behind his family and not being able to complete his Batchelor degree. Surely the USA should be encouraging young people like Mark to stay in the USA and complete their studies not turning their backs on them. Please let this Dream act proceed and stop splitting families.
To be able to have the persistence required to wait for such a monumental bill is an amazing feat by itself. However, to have that persistence along with the willpower and determination to follow your dreams and never allow others' actions to waver your ultimate decision of becoming successful.... that makes me believe that, one day, the world will be a great place because of these incredible people.
We should have the opportunity to dream of our future like all of our other classmates.
The Dream Act would make the dreams of my sister and family, a reachable goal.
This is one of the most important things that Congress must approve. Some undocumeted immigrants come to the US for a safer life. They want to be a part of society and work for the greater good. Many kids have worked hard through school and as they are ready to graduate they can not continue to higher education.
Please pass the dream act, this is going to revitalize our country
I have worked with many outstanding young people who fall into this category. Many of these are more conscientious and are of moral character than some native young people who take their citizenship for granted. We need Dream Act qualifiers to stay here and share their goodness with America and the world.
i strongly support the DREAM ACT. and I really hope President Obama pass the plan as soon as possible in order to let the country allow any of us being able to go to college for achieving further educations and degrees. so many people like me have been living in the darkness, and we need to see some changes of a new immigration policy. please pass the act.
The gifts that the undocumented immigrants bring to the nation are overwhelmingly greater than the cost that is perceived. We cannot afford keeping a section of our population in the the shadows of ignorance. Education is the key for the success of our state and our nation.
Let the children live their dream. Nothing should stop them from getting a better education.
Please pass the DREAM Act. So many students and young people are living in the shadows, being denied inclusion into society and being punished for the actions of their parents.
DREAM 2010
PASS THE DREAM ACT WE ALL HAVE DREAMS FOR A BETTER FUTURE
i support the dream act because im in love with an immigrant with a dream of one day been able to go to school or to have there papers its not fare for anyone that has been here sense their child hood
we all have a d.r.e.a.m a dream to become and have a better future in this free country that is america land of the free we all have to put our word in everyone deserves an apportunity
This hard working students deserve a better future.
i agree with the dream act!
I am an AB540 college student. Its ready hard for me to go to college, but i am not giving up. I have to work full time so I can pay my rent, car insuranse, gasoline, food and personal stuff. Im taking 9 units per semester, and its hard. but once again I am NOT giving. My major is in Child Development I have been here with my brothers since I was 11, I am 20 years old now. My life is here.
The dream act should be unanimously supported. It is well written, fair, and provides an opportunity for the youth to not only become educated but earn a better life. They would become american citizens both on paper and in terms of education.
Please pass the dream act
PLEASE PASS THE DREAM ACT! I JUST GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL WITH HONORS AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE OF MY STATUS! I HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE I WAS 5 YEARS OLD, SO I'VE BEEN LIVING HERE FOR 13 YEARS AND NOW THAT I AM OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, I CAN'T GET MY DREAM CAREER OR GET ANY OF MY DREAMS ACCOMPLISHED! I SPEAK 3 LANGUAGES, A WHIZ AT WRITING AND READING AND I WANT TO BECOME A TEACHER OR A WRITER BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE STUPID PAPERS... SOME SAY THAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS SHOULDN'T GET PAPERS BUT WHAT US YOUNG ADULTS WHO WERE TAKEN HERE BY KIDS HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT OUR PARENTS DECIDED TO DO? IT'S NOT FAIR! I AM 100% LIBERAL AND I BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR US EDUCATED PEOPLE TO GET WHAT WE DESERVE!
It is a shame that AMERICA will not give students the opportunity to prove their skills and ambitions because of their legal status. Many of these students have lived in the U.S. their entire life and have been living the American lifestyle. So why not give those who want a future, the chance to prove that they can too be someone in life one day? We all share this world and we should all be treated equally with no judgements and restrictions. The Dream Act should be passed!!!!!!
It's time to pass this needed bill in Congress and for it to be signed by the president. These young people should be allowed to finish their education and become citizens of our great country. These are law-abiding students doing the right thing. they want to make their way in our society and they have earned that right. The law needs to be passed as soon as possible. This is what our country was founded on. Freedom.
It is a shame that illegals crossing the border (can't call them immigrants) are treated with more respect than those whom have abided by all of our visa requirements for years and are prevented citizenship in this country. Martin and Alison Dennis have made significant contributions to this town of Steamboat Springs, the state of Colorado and this country of ours. Hopefully, the bipartisan effort to pass the Dream act will become a reality for this wonderful family.
pease pass the dream act we really need it so we can get some help with school and that we can some day become citizens and that way we be able to use our degress thank you and i hope the DREAM ACT pass
I would rather be a lawyer than a cartel worker
The dream Act must be passed to allow my grandson and others like him who came to the United States legally as infants and were brought up as loyal American citizens for a number of years to remain with their families in the United States and provide the dedication and skill required to build the great nation.
Students who have been here since they were children don't deserve to be deported back to their original country. If they have proved to be law abiding people and show that they have something to offer by graduating high school and wanting a higher education then they should be allowed to stay legally in the country which they are used to calling Home.
First of all, I am so grateful my grandparents decided to legally immigrate to this country at the turn of the 20th Century. I love America dearly. The vision of our forefathers had when creating this country has shaped a better world for all of humanity, which is why the USA is such a desirable country to live. The dream the Dennis’ have for living in America is nothing different than the dream my grandparents had over a century ago. However, the Dennis’ have proven before obtaining citizenship, to be valuable assets to this country. I must commend Martin and Alison for the standards they have set in our community, the way they have raised their children, and the ethical way they have conducted their business practices. I find it a true shame if DREAM Act was not passed and the United States of America would lose an opportunity to have their son, as well as other young adults in similar situations, become an American citizen.
The Dream Act should be passed. It is affecting young adults that have been raised in the United States and will not be allowed to continue their higher education if The Dream Act is not passed. Thank-you
It is ridiculous that the congress has not passed this bill yet. It is past time for them to act!
THE TIME HAS COME... LET US PROVE THAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF GIVING BACK TO THE COUNTRY THAT GAVE US EVERYTHING. WE CAN NOT ENJOY THE FREEDOM THAT YOU TAUGHT US!, WE NEED LEGAL DOCUMENTS IN ORDER TO PROGRESS AND EXPAND AS HUMAN BEINGS! LET OUR VOICE BE HEARD! LET OUR HANDS DO THE JOBS YOUR CITIZENS REFUSE! BUT LET US DO IT THE LEGAL WAY! LET US LIVE WITHOUT THE "IRRUGULARITY" BANNER ACROSS OUR FOREHEADS!
The Dream Act should be passed all we are looking for is to have a better live than aour parents becuase we can see the consequences of not having an education. No one should be hold back from making their dream come true. Education should be a right for everyone not just certain people.
Please pass the dream Act law...we students want to keep studying and make a contribution to this country in which we have been here all our lives!
I think that deep soul-searching is in order here. We are a country of immigrants and a great many of us have successed in fulfilling the "American Dream". Here is our chance to tap-in to vital intelletual resources that are desperately needed in this country. If one looks back at history to check the national origins of many of our great contributors to our society, it would indeed be very difficult to find on that was not from immigrant parents or family. Many families have sacrificed much to get thier children educated in this country. It is a true privilege to accomplish this goal. If we do not act on thier behalf, we are the ones to suffer.
I was brought to the US by my mother when I was 6 years old, I am now 26. I graduated Highschool and will receive my Associates Degree in Science in May 2010 which will transfer to the University of Houston. In have been accepted into the Communication Science and Disorders (Speech Therapy) program at U of H and will further my education into Speech Pathology with a Masters Degree. The Dream Act 2009 is extremly important to me because without it I will not be able to put my Degrees to use in the US upon graduation. This act will not only benefit students in the US who are in college but will aslo benefit the US becasue we will be contributing our education and Degrees to the US. By the US passing the Dream Act 2009, the US will have more educated peole and will not have to recruit Nurses, Doctors, Lawyers, and Medical staff from other countries.
